TORONTO – Hollywood Suite announced Tuesday it will ring in the new year with the exclusive broadcast premieres of three new Canadian films.
All three movies will be available via Hollywood Suite On Demand beginning Jan. 1 and will air on Hollywood Suite’s 2000s Movies channel later in January.
“It’s exciting to kick off the new year with a great lineup of Canadian talent,” Suzanne Marshall, Hollywood Suite programming manager, said in a press release. “Hollywood Suite is proud to continue our commitment to bringing bold and original content to our viewers.”
The coming-of-age drama Adult Adoption will have its broadcast premiere on Hollywood Suite on Jan. 9 at 9 p.m. ET. Marking the feature film directorial debut for Toronto’s Karen Knox, the film stars Canadian stage actor Ellie Moon as Rosy, who has aged out of foster care and sets out to find the love of a parent figure online.
Directed by Julia Beney, whimsical road-trip drama A Girl, a Boy, a Penny and a Very, Very, Very Long Road will make its broadcast premiere on Jan. 16 at 9 p.m. ET. This heartfelt quirky drama exploring grief, mental health, lost dreams and the unanswerable question of who we truly are “is a gem of a film that inspires trust, self-love, and bravery,” the press release says.
Indigenous sci-fi film The Beehive, featuring a cast of newcomer actors, will premiere on Jan. 23 at 9 p.m. ET. Written and directed by Métis filmmaker Alexander Lasheras, the film explores environmental topics and “follows an inquisitive young girl, her angsty teenage brother, and her self-righteous father who put their family conflicts aside in the face of a pandemic alien invasion,” the release says.
Hollywood Suite’s four HD channels, featuring movies from the ’70s, ’80s, ’90s and 2000s, and Hollywood Suite On Demand are available to more than 10 million households across Canada, exclusively through Canadian TV service providers and Amazon Prime Video Channels.
Hollywood Suite is currently available on free preview nationally until Jan. 5 through participating TV service providers.
