Hollywood Suite to broadcast popular Italian crime series

TORONTO – Hollywood Suite announced today it is the exclusive English-language Canadian home of Gomorrah, an HBO Max/Sky Italia Italian crime series.

The first three seasons (36 episodes) of the series will premiere On Demand Dec. 1 and will be broadcast starting Dec. 6 on Hollywood Suite, with new episodes airing Mondays at 9 p.m. ET. Season four and five, as well as the Gomorrah feature film The Immortal will premiere in the new year.

“Based on Roberto Saviano’s bestselling book, the gritty Naples-set crime drama paints a portrait of the brutal Neapolitan crime organisation the Camorra,” a press release explains.

Gomorrah “set a new standard for Italian television following its debut in 2014, and has gone on to receive widespread acclaim from both viewers and critics alike. To date, the series has been shown in over 190 territories worldwide, with The New York Times rating it in the top five of the top 30 international shows of the past decade,” the release said.

“The success of series such as Squid Game and Money Heist have demonstrated an appetite for bingeable programming from across the globe,” said Sharon Stevens, vice-president of programming at Hollywood Suite, in the release. “We are excited to bring Gomorrah to audiences and further drive the introduction of top-tier international product into the Canadian marketplace.”

Gomorrah is produced by ITV Studios’ Cattleya in collaboration with Beta Film.
