TORONTO – In recognition and support of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Hollywood Suite announced Wednesday it will present 24 hours of Indigenous-centred programming on Sept. 30.
The programming spotlighting the culture, history and perspectives of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples will air on Hollywood Suite’s HS00 channel, starting at 6 a.m. ET and running until the next morning.
As part of the day’s lineup, Hollywood Suite will present the broadcast premiere of Sonia Bonspille Boileau’s 2019 feature film Rustic Oracle at 9 p.m. ET.
“Set in the late 90s, Rustic Oracle is a dramatic feature about Ivy, an 8-year-old girl trying to understand what happened to her big sister who has vanished from their small Mohawk community. With minimal clues, Ivy and her mother Susan embark on an unwelcome journey to find Heather which will ultimately bring the pair closer together despite challenging circumstances. Behind the story of desperation, told through the eyes of a child, lies one of hope, growth, awakening and love,” reads a synopsis in a press release.
Other programming scheduled on the HS00 channel for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation includes classic works from Indigenous creators such as Alanis Obomsawin’s Incident at Restigouche (1984), Jeff Barnaby’s award-winning Rhymes for Young Ghouls (2013), Jeremy Torrie’s The Corruption of Divine Providence (2020), The Journals of Knud Rasmussen (2006), Abandoned: Angelique’s Isle (2018), Zoe Leigh Hopkins’s Kayak to Klemtu (2017), Darlene Naponse’s Falls Around Her (2018), and Every Child Matters: Reconciliation Through Education (2020).
