History announces fall schedule and month-long freeview


TORONTO — With a national free preview set to start August 28, Corus Entertainment’s’ History channel announced today its fall schedule which includes new series and returning fan favourites.

Starting August 31 at 10 p.m., Mountain Men returns for season nine (12 episodes x 60 minutes), as the stakes skyrocket for the men and women of the mountains as they face major turning points in pursuit of their independent way of life.

On September 1 at 9 p.m., History premieres Lords of the Ocean (13×60), which follows the North Atlantic’s biggest marine services company as it recovers, repairs and resurrects anything in the world’s most dangerous waters.

On September 2, back-to-back new series begin on History with previous Forged in Fire champions returning for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to square off against the masters in Forged in Fire: Beat the Judges (6×60), at 9 p.m. That’s followed at 10 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. by Eating History (10×30), which follows two friends, vintage food expert Old Smokey and collector Josh Macuga, on a quest to uncover and eat the oldest, most nostalgic and shocking foods to have survived history.

Then the highly anticipated premiere of The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch (pictured) debuts on September 6 at 10 p.m. The series (8×60) features a team of scientists and experts as they conduct a thorough search of one of the most infamous and secretive hotspots of alleged paranormal and UFO-related activities on the planet.

Also premiering September 6, at 9 p.m., season two of Lost Gold of World War II (8×60) sees the team dive even deeper into the mystery of Yamashita’s gold.

The limited series Grant (3×120), executive produced by Leonardo DiCaprio, outlines the life of Ulysses S. Grant when it premieres October 19 at 8 p.m.

History’s fall lineup will also include season eight of Counting Cars (6×60), premiering September 3 at 9 p.m., and new episodes of American Pickers (August 31, 9 p.m.), Pawn Stars (September 1, 10 p.m.), Ancient Aliens (September 4, 9 p.m. and 10 p.m.) and The UnXplained (September 18, 10 p.m.).

A two-part Forged in Fire: Summer Forging Games special will air September 5 at 9 p.m. and 10 p.m.

History’s freeview runs from August 28 to September 30.
