TORONTO – All-high definition broadcaster High Fidelity HDTV said today it is working with the Cameron Thomson Group to distribute HiFi’s popular channel, Oasis HD, to the European marketplace.
CTG is a top business development corporation focused on media, entertainment and related technologies.
“Cameron Thomson will provide High Fidelity HDTV with the relationships and industry insight necessary to bring Oasis HD into Europe,” said HiFi partner and co-founder, Ken Murphy, in a press release. “We are thrilled to be working with a company like CTG who understands the appeal of Oasis HD and the complexity and subtleties of the European market. We believe CTG’s expertise is exactly what is needed to bring our channel to the European audience.”
In recent years, sales of HD-ready televisions have dramatically increased while a steady stream of European distributors have begun offering HD content to their viewers, says the HiFi release. This environment has created a need for new and compelling high definition channels in the European market.
Oasis HD occupies a unique space in the Canadian television broadcasting spectrum by offering compelling stories about nature and natural history – in 100% HD, accompanied by Dolby 5.1 digital surround sound.
“Oasis HD is already a proven winner in Canada and we are confident that viewers in Europe will also be thrilled by its gripping stories and breathtaking visuals,” said Ronald Thomson, president of CTG, in the release. “With its focus on nature and family friendly content, Oasis HD will be a sure fire winner with European viewers. Other channels may sometimes show similar programming, however Oasis HD is the only service that features just nature or natural history related shows.
