TORONTO — While HGTV Canada continues its national free preview until April 30, Corus Entertainment announced Tuesday its Corus Studio’s new original series Scott’s Vacation House Rules (10×60) will debut this month and Backyard Builds (11×30) will return for a third season.
Hosted by real estate expert and contractor Scott McGillivray (pictured on left), Scott’s Vacation House Rules transports viewers into the countryside and proves that Canadians can make smart investments and don’t need to travel far to enjoy a dreamy vacation hotspot, says the news release. Kicking off the series, McGillivray brings a little bit of Bavaria to the Haliburton Highlands when he turns a family cottage into a German-inspired guesthouse. Scott’s Vacation House Rules premieres Sunday, April 26 at 9 p.m. on HGTV Canada.
On Thursday, April 16 at 9:00 and 9:30 p.m. HGTV Canada heads outdoors with the third season of Backyard Builds with back-to-back episodes. Looking to provide salvation from cramped households are contractor Brian McCourt and design expert Sarah Keenleyside (pictured together on right). In the third season’s premiere episode, McCourt and Keenleyside build a space for an energetic young dancer, and create a stunning California-inspired pool and lounge area that the whole family can enjoy.
Other home inspiration and heartfelt stories continue in April with the debut of new series Celebrity IOU (April 13 at 10 p.m. ET/PT), while new episodes of popular programs return to the network’s lineup with Island Life, Pool Kings, House Hunters Renovation, Maine Cabin Masters and Barnwood Builders. In addition to HGTV Canada’s new content, viewers can also indulge in aspirational renovations during the network’s daytime marathons.
“At a time when Canadians are gathered at home and seeking a much-needed escape, we are pleased to be delivering more new episodes and seasons with their favourite stars, while making HGTV Canada available to more viewers than ever with a free preview until April 30,” said Troy Reeb, executive vice-president of broadcast networks for Corus Entertainment, in the news release.
