Heather Steele promoted to regional news director for Global Manitoba and Saskatchewan

Corus Entertainment’s Global News on Monday announced Heather Steele has been named as the new regional news director and station manager for Global Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

“Heather has made a huge impact, first at Global Winnipeg and then 680 CJOB, since she joined Corus almost 15 years ago, following stints at both CityTV Winnipeg and CKX News in Brandon,” reads an emailed Global News announcement.

Steele’s career at Corus has seen her advance from TV reporter to anchor to radio executive producer to, most recently, manager of talk and talent for 680 CJOB in Winnipeg.

“At every step along the way, her passion for local news, for her community and for storytelling has resonated with audiences and colleagues,” the announcement says.

“Heather has brought her trademark dedication to news and to her team while covering major events like the death of Master Corporal Jeffrey Walsh, the 2011 flooding, the disappearances of Amber McFarland and Jennifer Catcheway, the return of the Winnipeg Jets, the deadly Carberry bus crash, and many civic, provincial and federal elections.”
