TORONTO – HBO Canada is giving Canadians a chance to sample HBO’s new half-hour newsmagazine series Vice free of charge.
The premiere episode, which debuted on April 5, is now available at HBO Canada’s website, and will also be available for free via the on demand and online services of participating television providers, and on TMN GO.
Vice is hosted by Ottawa-born Shane Smith, founder of the new media company of the same name, and is executive produced by Bill Maher, Smith and Eddy Moretti, Vice’s chief creative officer. CNN’s Fareed Zakaria serves as a consultant on the series. The series is co-hosted by two Vice correspondents – former intern Ryan Duffy and “Dos & Don’ts” book editor Thomas “Baby Balls” Morton – and promises to smash barriers of decorum to cover stories such as out-of-control political assassinations in the Philippines, the sumo/mixed martial arts craze that has swept Senegal, and the precarious nuclear stare-down in Kashmir.
HBO Canada is offered by Astral’s The Movie Network in Eastern Canada and Corus Entertainment’s Movie Central in Western Canada. New episodes of Vice premiere Friday nights at 11 p.m. ET/MT.
