TORONTO — Bell Media’s The Harold Greenberg Fund is supporting 28 new Canadian feature film projects through its Script Development Program, representing an investment of nearly $400,000.
The fund’s Script Development Program supports Canadian films through all stages, including story optioning, first to second drafts, second to third drafts, and polish and packaging.
Recent projects from established Canadian filmmakers supported by the fund include: Vic and Doc and Duke Go to the Store, a new feature film from the Weirdos (TIFF 2016) team of Daniel MacIvor and Bruce McDonald; Sleeping Dog Lie, from screenwriters Thomas Michael and Paolo Mancini, and director Robert Budreau; and Your Life is Mine, from Level 16 creator Danishka Esterhazy and producer Judy Holm, based on the novel by Nathan Ripley.
“We’re very pleased with the strong showing of projects selected during our first fiscal quarter,” said John Galway, president, English-Language Program, The Harold Greenberg Fund, in the news release. “We are proud to be able to help these filmmakers in the early days of developing their vision and to support them on their journey of bringing these stories to life.”
