HAMILTON, ON – Cable 14 has been honoured with a Media Award of Distinction by the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) for its live broadcasts of a variety of McMaster University sports, as well as OUA postseason and Canadian Interuniversity Sport national championship events.

The Hamilton-based community channel, co-owned by Cogeco Cable and Rogers (formerly Shaw and Source Cable), began airing McMaster sports on tape delay in the early 2000's.  In 2008, with the addition of a fibre link to the Ron Joyce Stadium building project, Cable 14 began live broadcasts from the McMaster campus on a consistent basis.

Since then, Cable 14’s yearly broadcast schedule has included McMaster football, basketball, volleyball and soccer games. The channel has also acted as the host broadcaster for such championship events as the 2010 CIS Women's Basketball Championship and 2011 CIS Women's Volleyball Championship, and its broadcasts have also been backhauled to other OUA markets including Kingston, Ottawa and Windsor.  Feeds of these games have also been made available to the Toronto Television Operations Centre with highlights appearing on TSN, Sportsnet, CHCH, CFTO, CBC, and CTV.

This past season, Cable 14 partnered with Ontario University Athletics to broadcast the 2014 OUA Soccer Final Four that aired locally and on OUA.tv, plus produced the 107th Yates Cup broadcast.  In addition to being available in high definition to subscribers in the local Hamilton area, the game aired in several other markets across Ontario.

With approximately 150,000 subscribers, Cable 14 has been serving Hamilton, Ancaster, Dundas, Stoney Creek and parts of Flamborough, as well as the surrounding communities of Haldimand, Cayuga, Dunnville, Caledonia, and Binbrook, for more than 40 years.
