TORONTO and OTTAWA – Newly launched Gusto TV has bought 56 hours of lifestyle programming from BBC Worldwide Canada, some of which will premiere later this month, the companies announced Thursday.
Titles featured in the deal include programs never before seen in Canada, from celebrity chefs and foodies such as Nigel Slater, Rachel Allen, Rick Stein and Anjum Anand. The lineup also includes festive specials just in time for the holiday season.
“When building Gusto TV’s launch schedule, we knew the BBC Worldwide Canada would be a key content supplier”, said Mark Prasuhn, GM and head of programming, in the announcement. “The breadth, depth and quality of their HD programming in the food and travel genres is unrivalled. We believe that viewers are hungry for intelligent lifestyle programming that celebrates the boundless variety of global cuisines and cultures, and we're thrilled to bringing some of the BBC's best factual content to Canadian audiences for the first time.”
“This deal exposes Canadian audiences to some of the UK’s top culinary personalities and flavors from around the world serving as the perfect complement to Gusto TV’s mandate for lifestyle programming,” added Michael Smith, SVP TV Sales and Co-Productions, BBC Worldwide Canada.
