OTTAWA — Gusto Worldwide Media announced today it has hired Carrie Gillis (above) as its new vice-president and general manager.
She will start in the newly created role on March 1, and will be responsible for overseeing operations, sales and marketing at Gusto TV’s Ottawa-based studio and master control facility.
“With years of experience in the media and entertainment industry, Gillis brings leadership and expertise in multimedia content creation, client and agency partnerships, sales, marketing, and operations,” reads the press release announcing her appointment.
Gillis began her career in TV content distribution for CBC International Sales and Télé Images in Paris. After that, she spent several years leading the advertising and sponsorship sales and events business at Strategy, Realscreen and Torstar Corp. While at Torstar, she launched Toronto Cocktail Week and Toronto Burger Week, and was also integral to the launch of city magazine The Grid, says the press release.
Most recently, she was managing director of events and marketing at St. Joseph Communications’ media division, where she led the launch of a new events division and more than doubled experiential revenue growth, says the release. Some of the St. Joseph Communications media brands she developed experiential content solutions for include Toronto Life, Fashion, Maclean’s, Canadian Business, Ottawa Magazine and Weddingbells.
Gusto also announced today it has recently completed production on two new series, CombiNation Plates (production on the series started in June) and One Big Recipe, as well as a new holiday special.
