MONTREAL – Groupe V Média’s Max service is crediting its slate of new programming for new audience records set earlier this month.
The network, which was re-branded from MusiMax last August, said that its January 5 airing of Lucifer reached 153,600 confirmed viewers, while a subsequent episode that aired January 12 topped 149,500 viewers, surpassing its previous audience record of 128,000 viewers established in March, 2007 with a MusiMax special on René Angelil.
The company said that Max has grown its share of viewing 80% versus the share generated by its predecessor MusiMax, climbing from a 0.5 share to a 0.9 share. Max obtained a 1.4 share of viewing in its core demo of A25-54 for the first two weeks of its winter 2017 broadcast schedule, three times the share obtained by MusiMax over the same period in 2016.
“The network’s new focus is clearly a winner”, said Groupe V Media content and development GM Jacques Mathieu, in Monday’s news release. “We launched Max with the firm intention of becoming THE viewing destination for TV series fans and movie lovers. We have carefully developed refined and decidedly entertaining programming, presenting shows that stand out and spark remarkable viewer interest. The encouraging results we’re seeing from our new shows prove that we’re on the right track!”
Sister station MusiquePlus is also posting higher ratings for the first two broadcast weeks of 2017, with a 2.2 share of viewing in its primary target of Adults 18-34, a full half-share more than in 2016.
