TORONTO – Groupe Média TFO has released a new strategic plan that underscores its commitment to moving French educational content forward in the digital world, both in Canada and abroad.

The plan, available in English here, details the public educational media company’s goal to expand upon its role as a digital content producer, with an emphasis on the delivery of premium learning content for mobile platforms; recommends that its digital learning platform be available in schools across Canada; and reiterates its aim to forge more international partnerships and export French-language content.

Groupe Média TFO also said that it requires a new funding model that is “more adequately aligned with its new operational activities”.

"Public broadcasting in Canada is playing catch up. The need for a digital shift among public broadcasters has been absent from any discussion until now," said TFO Groupe Média president and CEO Glenn O' Farrell, in the plan’s news release. "Today's plan highlights the ambitious agenda we have to be a leading educational, digital French force in Canada and globally."

Initially created as a television station serving Franco-Ontarians, Groupe Média TFO now has 21 YouTube channels, 160 websites, the top Francophone kids YouTube channel in Canada, and over 10,000 free videos, games and applications on its www.TFO.org platform.
