Greenberg Fund supports 27 more Canadian film projects


TORONTO — Bell Media’s The Harold Greenberg Fund ended its second fiscal quarter with support for 27 new Canadian feature film projects through its Script Development Program, representing an investment of nearly $400,000.

The Fund’s Script Development program supports Canadian films through all stages, including story optioning and first and second drafts, to third drafts, and polish and packaging.

Some of the projects supported in this round of funding include David Cronenberg’s Crimes of the Future, Anne Wheeler’s Rude Awakening and Des McAnuff’s King Lear. Projects from emerging filmmakers include award-winning music video director Cazhhmere’s first feature Blue Blood, Tony Elliott’s Rush the Dark, and Gillian McKercher’s Calgary-set Lucky Star.

Since its inception in 1986, the French and English programs of the Fund have supported almost 5,000 projects and initiatives, for an investment of more than $118 million to date in the Canadian film and television industry.
