Greenberg Fund awards $60,000 to three Territories projects

TORONTO — Bell Media’s The Harold Greenberg Fund is awarding a total of $60,000 to three projects in the inaugural round of funding for its HGF/Territories Shorts Program.

The HGF/Territories Shorts Program was developed in partnership with Northwest Territories Film Commission (NTFC), Nunavut Film Development Corporation (NFDC) and the Government of Yukon’s Media Development Unit. The initiative marks the first time all three territories have been brought together under one funding program supporting filmmaking.

The following short film projects are each receiving $20,000: Nahga from writer/director Mason Mantla; Weight from filmmaking siblings Gabriel Bullen and Thomas Bullen, and producer Kelly Milner; and Leah’s Moustache Party from writer Thomas Anguti Johnston and director Nadia Mike.

“We were encouraged to read so many compelling scripts from the North for our first round of the HGF/Territories Shorts Program,” said John Galway, president, English-language program, The Harold Greenberg Fund, in the news release. “It was difficult to choose just three projects, but we’re excited to help these talented filmmakers craft their unique visions.”
