Google to pay Canadian publishers for news, train 5,000 journalists in digital skills

TORONTO – Google Canada is announcing today major investments to support Canadian newsrooms and journalists across the country, according to an early morning press release. Google Canada has signed agreements with Canadian publishers for Google News Showcase, a new product and licensing program “that provides a customizable space for news content in Google News and Discover.
