TORONTO – Global TV will add six new dramas and six new comedies to its 2011/12 primetime schedule, the broadcaster announced Tuesday.
Headlining Global’s lineup of new acquisitions is Prime Suspect, a police drama based on the U.K. series of the same name, while other new dramas include A Gifted Man, The Finder, Ringer, The 2-2, and Canadian original series The Firm. New to Global are Harry’s Law and Parenthood.
The network’s new comedies include How to be a Gentleman, Are You There, Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea, animated series Allen Gregory and Napoleon Dynamite, I Hate My Teenage Daughter, and Happily Divorced. Returning favourites include Bones, Glee, The Good Wife, House, NCIS, The Office, The Simpsons and Survivor.
"This is an opportunity to make some strategic additions to our great programming and create an even more powerful primetime schedule," said Barbara Williams, SVP of content, in the announcement. "We have the proven performance of established, returning favourites like Survivor and Glee, now infused with a fresh slate of new shows from across all genres such as the most anticipated Fall drama Prime Suspect and several new additions to our comedy slate including How to be a Gentleman. Without a doubt, Global has the most stable – and competitive – schedule being offered to viewers this Fall."
