TORONTO – Building on last year's hit U.S. dramas The Blacklist, Chicago PD and Sleepy Hollow, Global announced Wednesday that it is adding eight new dramas to its fall lineup.
The new shows include psychological thriller Stalker starring Maggie Q Dylan McDermott; Madam Secretary, starring Téa Leoni as the newly appointed U.S. Secretary of State; the mysterious Gracepoint; and State of Affairs (pictured) featuring Katherine Heigl as a CIA analyst who navigates political minefields. Based on the comic book series Hellblazer from DC Comics, Constantine will adapt the comic about a man-turned-supernatural detective. And building on the NCIS franchise, Global will welcome a new crop of special agents with the addition of NCIS: New Orleans.
Two new shows will air mid-season: Heroes Reborn, billed as the “saga behind the 2006 breakout hit Heroes,” and The Dovekeepers, a Mark Burnett-produced four-hour miniseries based on the Alice Hoffman historical novel of the same name.
Barbara Williams, SVP of content at Shaw Media, called Global “Canada's drama destination."
"Packing in political intrigue, mystery and star-power, our network's eight new dramas feel right at home in the schedule, in total delivering 14.5 hours of simulcast programming”, she said in the news release.
New comedy series include Partners, A to Z, Marry Me, Bad Judge, and Mulaney.
Returning to the schedule are The Blacklist, Bones, Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, Elementary, Family Guy, The Good Wife, About a Boy, Hawaii Five-0, The Simpsons, Sleepy Hollow, Survivor, Big Brother Canada and Canadian dramas Remedy and Rookie Blue.
