
MONTREAL – Calling her "a committed news lover," Global Quebec announced today Karen Macdonald has been appointed news director.
Currently serving as the station manager at CKMI in Quebec City, Macdonald officially takes over the position on November 1st. She will be based in Montreal but will oversee the station’s three news bureaus located in Montreal, Quebec City and Sherbrooke.
"A committed news lover, Macdonald (pictured) brings more than 20 years of editorial and management experience to the position. In her career, she has worked on both sides of the camera, from anchoring a local newscast to producing specials for Global Quebec," says the company’s press release.
She launched several news magazines for Global including Talking Heads, Global News Sunday and most recently QC Magazine. She is also the owner and co-publisher of the Quebec Chronicle-Telegraph, North America’s oldest newspaper.
Macdonald was honored with the Women of Distinction Award in Communications by the YWCA in 2005. She is chairperson of the board of Centraide-Québec and a past Centraide campaign co-chair. She is fluent in both English and French.
