TORONTO – Greater Toronto Area residents are once again being encouraged to commit random acts of kindness on Wednesday as part of the third annual Greater Toronto Day.
Led by Global News Toronto and Corus Radio stations 102.1 the Edge, Q107 and Global News Radio 640 Toronto, GTA residents are encouraged to share their good deeds on social media with the hashtag #GreaterTorontoDay. Three social media posts across Twitter, Instagram or Facebook will be chosen at random for their author to receive $1,000 toward a local charity of their choice. The acts of kindness can be as small as buying the next person in line a coffee, paying a stranger’s TTC fare or donating to a local food bank.
Global News and Corus Radio will lead the way for Greater Toronto Day with talent and staff from across all brands surprising and delighting people in the GTA with acts of kindness. Coverage of Greater Toronto Day will air in a special Global News at 5:30 & 6 PM on May 16 with the broadcast highlighting acts from the day.
Additional Greater Toronto Day coverage will be featured on Global News’ The Morning Show, News at Noon and Global News at 11 PM, as well as on select radio programs and Globalnews.ca.
“In light of an extremely difficult few weeks for the city of Toronto, we feel that the spirit and positivity Greater Toronto Day brings couldn’t come at a better time,” said Jackie Moss, Corus’ national director, promotions and marketing, in the news release. “At Corus it’s always been of the utmost importance for us to be active in our communities and spread goodwill.”
