Global News Radio announces new national late night show

VANCOUVER — Corus Entertainment’s Global News Radio network today announced its late-night program, The Shift with Shane Hewitt, will officially launch across Canada on November 29.

This follows the July departure of Justin Wilcomes, known on-air as “Drex”, the original host of The Shift, which launched on Corus Radio stations in January 2018.

As the new host of the late-night show, Hewitt looks at the news of the day “under a new light, revealing what’s really happening behind the scenes and the impact on our lives,” reads the press release announcing The Shift’s new host.

The Shift shares stories you’ve never heard before, creating bright and lively conversations in the darkest hours of the night, right across Canada,” says the release.

With more than 25 years’ experience hosting radio and connecting with Canadians, Hewitt’s career has taken him across the country from Calgary to Sudbury, Brockville to St. Catharines and back to Calgary again. Before that, he grew up in Port Alberni, B.C., and Fort McMurray. As a dad and an entrepreneur with a love of conversation and thoughtful exchange of ideas, Hewitt will bring that perspective to The Shift every night, says the release.

“The culture of live, late-night radio is unique, unifying, and unpredictable,” said Larry Gifford, national director of talk radio at Corus Entertainment, in the release. “I am excited to hear the Canadian conversations and stories shared with Shane as he becomes part of the late-night experience in cities and towns across the country.”
