TORONTO – Global News is once again throwing its support behind the annual Toronto Fire Fighters’ Toy Drive to help provide toys to children and youth in need across Toronto.
The month-long call will culminate with Toy Drive Live, a special family-friendly, festive broadcast celebration on December 6 at CF Shops at Don Mills from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The event will also feature a live broadcast of Global News at 5:30 with anchors Farah Nasser and Susan Hay as well as chief meteorologist Anthony Farnell who will present his nightly weather report on location. They will be joined by announcers from Corus Radio stations 102.1 The Edge, Q107 and Global News Radio 640 Toronto, plus other special guests including the hosts from YTV, mascots Peppa Pig & George and Nella, Shimmer and Shine.
Members of the public attending Toy Drive Live are asked to bring a new unwrapped toy to support the initiative. Donations to the Toy Drive can also be made by dropping off toys, gift cards and monetary donations to any City of Toronto fire station. Though the demand for toys is great for children of all ages, teens are especially in need.
“We want to thank our viewers for their continued generosity and support,” said Corus’ VP of news and information for Eastern Canada Ward Smith, in the news release. “For the 12th straight year, this great partnership will bring festive cheer to the community and help ensure every child has the opportunity to receive some Christmas magic during the holiday season.”
