TORONTO – Oshawa-based local television station Channel 12 Durham is joining the Global News family later this month.
The Corus-owned station will be rebranded as Global Durham starting October 31, with expanded regional coverage while maintaining its focus on local stories. The station’s own newscast will continue to be anchored by Lindsay Dunn and air from 5:00 to 5:30 PM with additional airings at 7:00 PM and 11:00 PM ET. Toronto’s Global News at 5:30 & 6 will join the programming lineup as will Global National at 6:30 PM ET.
Channel 12 Durham executive producer Dan Carter will be taking a step back from his longtime role at the station to focus on his duties as Regional Councillor for the City of Oshawa, continues the news release.
“Dan Carter has been vital to the station and we want to sincerely thank him for all of his contributions,” said Ward Smith, VP, Global News, Eastern Canada, in the release. “In coming together with Global Durham, we are once again underscoring our commitment to delivering relevant, comprehensive news coverage to all of our GTA communities.”
