TORONTO – Kathleen O’Keefe has been named the assignment manager for Global National with Kevin Newman.
O’Keefe will assume her new role in Vancouver on August 22, says Kenton Boston, senior executive producer, Global National and News Specials.
"Kathleen is a true professional who lives and breathes news in this country and around the world," said Boston. "She will be a big impact player as we set the stage and focus on being No. 1 for national news in this country."
No stranger to the assignment desk or the national news agenda, O’Keefe has been the domestic assignment editor for CTV National News for two years.
Prior to that, she was the assignment editor for Canada AM and associate producer for the television talk show Jane Hawtin Live.
O’Keefe has played key roles in the major news stories of the last few years, setting up and running CTV’s federal election desk and organizing network coverage of the death of Pope John Paul II, the funeral of the Queen Mother, the explosion of the space shuttle Colombia, 9/11 and the ensuing wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
"I am thrilled at the opportunity to be part of such a dynamic and vibrant newscast," said O’Keefe. "I look forward to joining Kevin Newman and the Global National team as they continue to provide innovative coverage of the day’s events."
