Global BC’s late-night newscast expands to one hour

Corus Entertainment’s Global BC announced Wednesday its Global News organization is expanding its coverage of local news by adding 30 minutes to its weekday late-night newscast Global News at 11.

Starting April 1, the newscast will air from 11 p.m. to 12 a.m. PT, “reinforcing the station’s commitment to local news and information,” a Corus press release says.

“At a time when local news coverage is in decline, we are thrilled to expand our newscast at 11 p.m. to one hour,” Bhupinder S. Hundal, Global BC news director and station manager, said in a statement. “As news develops throughout the evening, our team will bring audiences the most comprehensive up-to-date local coverage to end their day.”

Offering an hour of news, community-based stories, engaging content, weather and more, Global News at 11 will continue to be led by anchor/reporter Jordan Armstrong, senior meteorologist Kristi Gordon and sports anchor Squire Barnes, the release says.
