VANCOUVER – Telecom retailer Glentel has raised over $300,000 in the first six months of its multi-year partnership with the Canadian Cancer Society, BC and Yukon Division.
The company is using a multi-tiered fundraising approach with employee giving, customer and supplier involvement as well as a corporate donation. As part of the partnership CCS provides Glentel with information and tools to help educate staff and customers about a different cancer every quarter, with an emphasis on prevention and early detection.
"I’m very proud to say that at our six month milestone our initiatives have already raised $331,000," said president and CEO Tom Skidmore, in a press release. "Our original commitment was to generate $1 million for CCS over the next three years and we are likely to surpass that. Our customer engagement activities alone bring in an average of $10,000 in donations per week."
