German TV to disappear

BERLIN – Thanks to disappointing carriage results in the U.S., German TV, which is carried by a few Canadian distributors, will be discontinued this month. “Unfortunately, revenue from GERMAN TV in the USA was not adequate to sustain self-supporting production and programming, and the German Committee on Cultural and Media Affairs will discontinue further tax-based funding of GERMAN TV,” said Oliver Mojen, Chief Content and Operating Officer for the channel and DW-TV, in an e-mail to www.cartt.ca.
