TORONTO – David Garby has been hired as director, advertising sales for VisionTV.
An experienced advertising industry executive, he takes up this new position on July 25. He will be responsible for the continued growth of VisionTV’s advertising and sponsorship revenue as well as the expansion of its client list, while working hand in hand with VisionTV’s media partners, including Airtime Sales and Trillenium Media.
Before moving to VisionTV, Garby served as Account Manager for CHUM Television’s conventional stations. Prior to that, he worked on Craig Media’s launch of Toronto 1, and sold airtime for all of Craig’s conventional and digital specialty stations.
From 1998 to 2003, he worked for Rogers Sportsnet as senior account executive. He was intimately involved in the launch of this station – Canada’s first regional specialty network – and worked closely with production, on-air talent and marketing colleagues to create both regional and national promotions.
He has also held account executive positions with IMS Radio Sales and CTV/Baton Broadcast, and worked for more than five years on the media buying side of the industry, with agencies Cossette Communication-Marketing, Media Buying Services Ltd. and HYPN Inc.
Garby comes to VisionTV at a time when the station is experiencing increases in both viewership and advertising revenue, Mark Prasuhn, Chief Operating Officer for the VisionTV Group of Channels, said. “Our programmers have created a family-friendly environment with solid audience appeal,” he said. “We intend to build on this strong foundation by providing both new and current advertisers with a variety of customized, synergistic advertising and promotions opportunities.
“We are delighted to have brought on board an advertising sales director who has such a wealth of broadcast industry experience, as well as a proven track record of delivering revenue growth,” added Prasuhn.
