TORONTO – Bell Media reported Monday Game of Thrones season eight premier has conquered Canada as 2.9 million Canadians tuned in to the series’ final season premiere across HBO Canada or Crave’s linear, on demand, and streaming platforms.
(The 2.9 million figure is a "duplicated reach" figure, which accounts for possible overlap between linear and digital viewership.)
The premiere episode attracted a preliminary average audience of 2.1 million viewers, said the company’s press release and was the largest night of streaming activity ever for Crave digital platforms. New episodes of Game of Thrones are available Sundays at 9 p.m. ET, only on Crave/HBO Canada. All previous seasons are also available on Crave.
The first episode of the final season of the series also helped drive “the biggest spike in Crave direct-to-consumer subscriptions ever with a 1,000% increase in the week leading up to the final season premiere, spiking to over 3,000% on Sunday. The series consistently ranks as the most-streamed title on Crave.ca and the Crave app week-over-week,” says the Bell release.
