Furnish named VP marketing at Astral


TORONTO – Peter Furnish has been hired as vice-president, marketing at Astral Television Networks, effective immediately.

Reporting to Domenic Vivolo, senior vice president, marketing and sales, Furnish will lead the marketing, interactive, consumer care and research departments within Astral Television Networks and will be responsible for developing strategic, multi-platform marketing plans and initiatives directed at consumers of The Movie Network, HBO Canada, Mpix, Family Channel and Playhouse Disney.

“The recent launches of our premium television brands on the online platform reflects the continuing evolution of our business and increasing focus on interactive strategies,” said Vivolo. “With his proven track record of developing new-media strategies, combined with his vast experience in subscription sales and consumer packaged goods marketing, Peter has the expertise to grow our business and further our subscribers’ engagement with our best-in-class content offering.”

Prior to joining Astral Television Networks, Furnish (right) was director, marketing strategy and partnerships at Virgin Mobile Canada. Furnish has previously worked in the marketing departments for Labatt Breweries of Canada, The Walt Disney Company, and Whitehall-Robins.
