fuboTV snags Coppa Italia and Serie A rights in Canada

TLN still has rights to broadcast over 110 games

NEW YORK – fuboTV Inc., a live TV streaming platform, announced today it has acquired exclusive rights for Coppa Italia and Serie A in Canada.

“The Coppa Italia agreement includes a minimum of 41 live matches per season from the annual Italian cup competition plus the Supercoppa Italiana,” a press release says.

“fuboTV will also be the exclusive English language home of Italy’s Serie A,” consisting of 380 matches annually with coverage beginning August 21.

Both are multi-year agreements.

With these deals, DAZN has lost rights it previously held, and RAI, a state-owned Italian-language broadcaster, has also lost rights its international TV channel previously held.

TLN Media Group, however, still has rights to broadcast over 110 live matches in Canada this season* with Italian commentary on TLN TV and Mediaset Italia-Canada. Coverage kicks off August 22.

“It is difficult to overstate the importance of our successful renewal of soccer broadcast rights,” said Aldo Di Felice, president of TLN Media Group Inc.

“The recent Tokyo Olympics proved again the unifying power of sports. Italian league soccer was one of the main reasons TLN was established in 1984. With a 37-year track record of serving the needs and interests of ethnic communities and multiculturally attuned Canadians, we at TLN Media Group are proud to say we stand by our viewers, our communities and commitments to promoting cross-cultural understanding.”
