NEW YORK – Sports-first live television streaming platform fuboTV Inc. announced today it has acquired exclusive rights for the English Premier League across all media platforms in Canada for three seasons, starting in August with the 2022/2023 season.
The streamer, which operates in Canada, the U.S., France and Spain, will now “exclusively carry all 380 Premier League matches each season and shoulder programming on its growing Canadian platform through the 2024/2025 season,” a press release explains.
All content is to stream live both on fuboTV and on Fubo Sports Network, the company’s linear channel. A subscription to fuboTV in Canada costs $14.99 per month, $29.99 per quarter or $99.99 per year.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. DAZN previously held the rights to Premier League games in Canada.
fuboTV also has exclusive rights to Coppa Italia and Serie A games in Canada (rights also previously held by DAZN) and the Liga MX home games of Club Deportivo Guadalajara. It further streams over a dozen other sports and entertainment channels, including OneSoccer.
“The Premier League is considered to be the best soccer league in the world and has a huge fan base in Canada,” said David Gandler, co-founder and CEO of fuboTV in the press release.
“This deal allows us to bring yet another top-notch property to fuboTV, further differentiating our content offering, and giving Canadians another reason to cut the cord for exciting, exclusive sports content.”
“The Premier League is very happy to partner with fuboTV in Canada,” said Paul Molnar, chief media officer of the Premier League.
“We know there are many passionate Premier League fans in Canada and we are very pleased that fuboTV views the Premier League as such an important part of its programming mix in this market. We look forward to working together to bring the excitement of the Premier League to both new and existing fans.”
