TORONTO – Network communication solutions provider Frontier Networks and The Toronto Internet Exchange Community (TorIX) have completed the joint expansion of a Leaf Node in Frontier's facility in downtown Toronto.

Founded in 1997 and located in Toronto, TorIX is Canada’s largest Internet Exchange Point with over 230 unique organizations (peers) with peak traffic rates of over 500 Gbit/s.

"TorIX is a vital part of our peering strategy and remains one of our most significant peering points," said Frontier president Luigi Calabrese, in the news release.  “The decision of TorIX to expand into our data centre makes quality internet peering more accessible not only to Frontier's customers but also to potential customers that want access to peering in remote markets that can be extended through other lower cost Frontier connected data centre locations."

"The exchange of Internet traffic at a neutral location is as important today as it was 20 years ago when TorIX first started interconnecting peers", added TorIX board member Vince Mammoliti.  "Internet Exchanges like TorIX play a vital role in the fabric of the Internet.  Through the support of companies like Frontier we can extend reach to more peers, improving access, efficiencies and lowering costs."
