TORONTO – Rogers Sports and Media’s Frequency Podcast Network announced today a slate of new original podcasts and returning podcasts for fall.
“With more and more Canadians tuning into podcasts, we’re incredibly excited to expand our fan-favourite roster of shows to reach more diverse audiences,” said Jordan Heath-Rawlings, director of Frequency Podcast Network and host of The Big Story, in a press release.
“Plus, this season’s collection offers a variety of unique stories and conversations that are all proudly made by Canadian creators.”
New shows include The Reheat, which launched July 26. The show “takes the biggest pop culture stories of yester-year and re-examines them through the lens of today. With wit, research, and tons of intersectional feminist critiques, hosts Sadaf Ahsan and Sarah Sahagian will blow your mind with their analysis of all the vintage celebrity scandals you remember, and some you don’t,” a synopsis in the press release reads.
Also new is Pinoy Nation, the network’s first bilingual podcast. The show “takes a deep dive into the important events and stories that resonate with Filipinos in Canada and overseas. From hot-button topics like immigration, permanent residency and temporary foreign workers, to lighter stories about basketball and Filipino-Canadian rap, Pinoy Nation looks at every aspect of Filipino-Canadian life,” the press release reads.
The podcast will be available in English and Tagalog starting Sept. 8. It is a bi-weekly series made in partnership with OMNI News: Filipino Edition.
Frequency’s flagship daily show, The Big Story, is now available as The Big Story: Canada Votes, which will run until Sept. 20. The podcast “follows the campaign trail closely ahead of the Canadian federal election. Listeners can look forward to in-depth policy review on each of the party platforms, commentary on polling trends and an inside look at key battleground ridings across the country,” the press release says.
Other new and returning podcasts include season two of Fireside Canada (Aug. 27), season three of Black Tea (Sept. 27), season two of Parkdale Haunt (Sept. 27), season four of Hot Plate: Inside the System (Oct. 7), the premiere of Tracking a Killer: The Cold Case Files (Oct. 18), and season two of How 2 Dog (Nov. 1).
