TORONTO – Freedom Mobile today announced the launch of Freedom Wi-Fi, a service that connects customers to over 65,000 Shaw Go WiFi hotspots across Western Canada.

Beginning today with this free trial, Freedom Mobile customers can supplement their mobile phone plans with access to the Freedom Wi-Fi trial. Freedom Mobile is owned by Shaw Communications.

"Freedom Wi-Fi leverages the expanse and power of the country's largest Wi-Fi network, Shaw Go WiFi, to provide our customers with even greater value," said Freedom Mobile CEO Alek Krstajic in a press release. "Along with the launch of our LTE network, this is giving our customers the freedom to connect and communicate."

Freedom Wi-Fi is easily accessible once customers download the Freedom Wi-Fi app for iOS and Android devices. Once authenticated, customers will automatically be connected to Freedom Wi-Fi every time they're within range of a hotspot, with no need to re-register or sign in. The app will also show customers the hotspots and Freedom Mobile stores that are closest to their location.

"We are looking for new ways to give our customers more value and Freedom Wi-Fi does just that," added Krstajic in the release.

As part of the customer trial all Freedom Mobile customers on a phone plan will have access to Freedom Wi-Fi. Freedom Wi-Fi will be available on a free trial basis until March 31, 2017.
