TORONTO – Shaw-owned Freedom Mobile said Wednesday that it has expanded its LTE network in Calgary and Edmonton, offering residents access to faster data speeds, smoother streaming and faster downloading.

Calgarians and Edmontonians may select from a range of LTE-ready handsets, including the new Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+, and may also add one of Freedom Mobile's data plans, which start at $30 per month.

"Canadians have told us that providing them with reliable network coverage that offers enhanced speeds and faster downloads at a fair and reasonable price is a priority for them, and we've listened," said COO Paul McAleese, in the news release.  “The launch of our powerful new LTE network furthers our commitment to providing Freedom Mobile customers in Calgary and Edmonton access to the same enhanced experience that those in the Greater Toronto Area, Southern Ontario and the Greater Vancouver Area currently enjoy."

Freedom Mobile added that it will continue with planned updates for a complete LTE rollout by the end of 2017.
