TORONTO – Women in Film and Television-Toronto (WIFT-T) on Wednesday announced four new members were added to its 2008 Board of Directors: Gaye McDonald (Vice-President of Brand Partnerships at Canwest), Kara Russell (Associate, Hall Webber LLP Entertainment and New Media Law), Akhaji Zakiya (Senior Consultant at Nordicity Group Ltd.) and Madeline Ziniak (National Vice-President at Rogers OMNI Television).
Re-elected returning board members are Gabriella Martinelli (President and CEO of Capri Films) and Susan Ross (Executive Vice-President and General Manager of Specialty Television at Corus Entertainment).
Continuing their terms on the board are Wanda Bradley (Director of Sales/Operations at NBC Universal), Leesa Levinson (Actress and Disabilities Advocate), Wendy MacKeigan (Vice-President at SK Films Inc.), Michelle Marion (Director of Canadian Independent Production at Astral Television Networks), Marcia Martin (Vice-President of Production at CHUM Television), Margaret O’Brien (Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer at Barna-Alper Productions Inc.), Cynthia Reyes (Managing Partner at DiversiPro Inc.), Dianne Schwalm (Senior Vice-President of Theatrical Advertising and Publicity at Warner Bros. Canada Inc.) and Jane Tattersall (President of Tattersall Sound and Picture).
“We are incredibly excited at the calibre of talent and skills these women will bring to the WIFT-T Board of Directors,” said WIFT-T Board Chair Wendy MacKeigan.
After completing their terms, Kirstine Layfield (Executive Director of Network Programming at CBC Television), Karen King (Production Executive of Original Programming, Drama at CanWest) and Sara Moore (former Senior Vice-President of Marketing and Publicity at Alliance Atlantis Broadcasting) are stepping down.
The board was elected at WIFT-T’s Annual General Meeting on May 13, 2008 in Toronto.
