MONTREAL – Albert Jean de Grandpré, founding director and chairman emeritus of BCE Inc., is this year’s recipient of the Québec Employers Council’s Prix de carrière award in honour of his contribution to Québec society.
“On behalf of all members of the Bell team, I congratulate our colleague Jean de Grandpré on this prestigious honour,” said George Cope, president and CEO of BCE Inc. and Bell, in an announcement. “This recognition by one of Québec’s leading business organizations underscores M. de Grandpré’s exceptional contribution to Québec and Canadian society, especially his role leading BCE forward.”

de Grandpré joined Bell in 1966 as the company’s general counsel, and was a progressively senior leader at the company. In 1976, he was appointed Bell’s board chairman and CEO. He led the formation and growth of Bell Canada Enterprises (BCE), which is now a $20 billion Québec-based company.
