Former CTV parliamentary correspondent Kevin Gallagher joins Global News as weekend anchor

Corus Entertainment’s Global News announced Tuesday veteran journalist Kevin Gallagher will be the new anchor of its weekend news programs, airing on Global TV across Canada from the Maritimes to Saskatchewan, beginning Saturday, May 31.

In addition to his weekend anchor role, Gallagher will appear on Toronto’s late newscast every Friday and also as a reporter one day a week on Global News at 5 and Global News at 6.

Gallagher is a former parliamentary correspondent for CTV National News, a position he was laid off from as part of Bell Media’s 4,800 staff cuts in February 2024. Prior to that role at CTV National News, which he held for more than seven years, he worked as a video journalist for CTV Montreal.

Most recently, Gallagher was working as an on-camera presenter, writer and producer for the Legislative Assembly of Ontario’s Broadcast and Recording Service, where he created educational, promotional and nonpartisan video content about how the Ontario government works, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Gallagher replaces Mark Carcasole, who left his Global News weekend anchor position in October 2024 to join CBC News Network as a breaking news host and reporter.
