Former Bell exec Chris Frank, Alain Cousineau appointed to CMF board


TORONTO – The Canada Media Fund (CMF) announced Tuesday that Alain Cousineau and Chris Frank, former Bell TV vice-president of programming, have been nominated to the CMF’s board of directors.

Cousineau, who is currently chair of the Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal, was also elected chair of the board following the CMF's annual general meeting held in Montreal. He takes over from outgoing CMF board chair Louis L. Roquet.

Frank was a founding officer at ExpressVu Inc. (later Bell ExpressVu and Bell TV). During his 16 years at ExpressVu he held executive management positions in programming, regulatory and government affairs, and corporate development, and also serve as treasurer of the Bell Broadcast and New Media Fund for a decade. Frank also spent 10 years at Telesat Canada where he had senior management positions in regulatory, government and public affairs, and business development.

Cousineau is former president and CEO of Loto-Québec and Groupe Secor. He is also a former chair of Tourisme Montréal and Société des alcools du Québec. Prior to that, he had a distinguished career in the academic field, primarily at the Université de Sherbrooke School of Business. Cousineau has also held board positions in a diverse range of industries including the healthcare, life sciences and pharmaceutical industries, aeronautics and electronic business solutions.  

CMF board members are nominated by two member organizations: the Canadian Coalition for Cultural Expression (CCCE), representing Canada’s cable and satellite distributors, and the Government of Canada, through Canadian Heritage.
