Quebecor’s discount wireless brand Fizz announced Wednesday the rollout of 5G service on its mobile network in Quebec, Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia.
Fizz’s 5G network covers more than 22 million Canadians, the wireless provider said in a press release.
“The launch of 5G on the Fizz network is a natural evolution of our mission: to offer our members innovative technological services that simplify their daily lives — at affordable prices,” Martin Gendron, Fizz general manager, said in the release. “This technology will transform our members’ mobile experience by delivering significantly higher speeds and better network performance.”
Fizz said benefits for customers include a 5G mobile network with a potential speed nearly four times that of 4G/LTE; a smoother, more responsive user experience; and support for a greater density of devices simultaneously connected to the network.
To take advantage of 5G coverage, Fizz customers must have a compatible device and subscribe to one of the 5G mobile plans now available on fizz.ca. In Ontario, Alberta and B.C., Fizz’s 5G plans currently range in price from $35 per month for 35 GB of data to $45 per month for 100 GB. In Quebec, 5G plans range from $35 per month for 35 GB to $50 per month for 100 GB.
