Fizz campaign finally reveals what the Internet tastes like

MONTREAL — With a playful nod to its name, Videotron discount wireless brand Fizz Mobile’s latest campaign not only asks its members to imagine how the Internet tastes but has provided the answer with an actual drink created based on their input.

“It all started with a question: What does the Internet taste like?” a press release explains about the creation of “the world’s first ever Internet-flavoured beverage.”

“Fizz asked this question to its community first, then enlisted influencers and experts to share their opinion online,” the release says.

The campaign, created by Quebecor’s collaborative marketing agency Qolab, also used an out-of-home campaign and videos on social media to gather answers using the hashtags #InternetTastesLike and #InternetGoute.

“Everybody has a different idea of what the Internet might taste like; answers ranged from funky and weird to thoughtful and philosophical,” said Jocelyn Goyer, creative director at Qolab, in the release. “A flavour laboratory helped us capture the most popular answers and combine them into a unique new drink.”

“Who better than Fizz and its online community to answer the question: What does the Internet taste like?” said Martin Gendron, general manager at Fizz. “This activation allowed us to collaborate directly with our community and offer them something unique to share and talk about. Who wouldn’t want to be one of the first people to drink the Internet?”

The “Internet you can drink” campaign launched June 6 and can be found on Fizz social media platforms, by following the conversation at #InternetTastesLike/#InternetGoute, and at https://fizz.ca/en/lp/taste-internet.
