TORONTO — Firstlight Media, a Toronto-based provider of cloud-based over-the-top infrastructure to streaming service operators, announced today it is rebranding as Quickplay, leveraging a brand it acquired when it purchased video streaming platform provider Quickplay Media from AT&T in March 2020.
The company rebranding comes “at a time of pivotal technology and business success,” according to a press release, which notes Quickplay will preview a new generation of cloud-native capabilities and announce major client wins during the IBC 2022 conference in Amsterdam next month.
“As we’ve extended our leadership in cloud-native streaming, it’s become clear to the market that the platform we’ve created is truly differentiated from anything that has come before it,” said André Christensen, CEO and co-founder of Firstlight Media, now Quickplay, in the release.
“Just as it did more than a decade ago, Quickplay today is making huge technology leaps that are enabling operators to capture leadership positions in an increasingly crowded streaming environment,” Christensen said.
Rogers Sports and Media’s Sportsnet runs its SN Now streaming service on the Quickplay platform, for example, which Cartt.ca wrote about here and here.
