First SCTE Canadian Summit coming in February; Cartt.ca to be media partner

EXTON Pa. and TORONTO – The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers made official today a brand-new annual professional development opportunity – the SCTE Canadian Summit.

The event is set to debut Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 3-4, 2009, in Toronto.

SCTE Canadian Summit 2009 “is designed to facilitate an exchange of technical information for Canadian engineering professionals to help them maximize opportunities and overcome challenges specific to the cable telecommunications industry in Canada both now and in the near future.”

Cartt.ca has signed on to be the media partner of the event.

The first year of the Summit will feature technical exhibits and workshops, general sessions, and networking opportunities – all designed toward the effective integration of new technologies into existing cable infrastructures to streamline operations and improve customer satisfaction.

SCTE board of directors member, Rogers Cable’s Dermot J. O’Carroll, who is also the SCTE director-at-large Canada, will serve as the chair of the 2009 Summit. O’Carroll, who, as an SCTE board member, represents SCTE’s Canadian members, is senior vice president, network engineering and operations with Rogers Cable Communications in Toronto.

The start of registration and information about exhibiting will be available soon at www.scte.org.

SCTE will make an additional announcement once those details become finalized and available.
