TORONTO – Something Undone will stream on CBC Gem starting Friday, March 26.
The six episode x 10 minutes drama follows a character named Jo who goes home to settle her estranged mother’s estate, and then discovers a dark family secret — her mother suffered from schizophrenia.
Jo becomes obsessed with uncovering the truth and struggles with her own reality. The series was directed by Nicole Dorsey (Black Conflux, Arlo Alone); and co-written, produced and stars (above, right to left) Madison Walsh as Jo (Mrs. America, The Expanse) and Michael Musi (“Terence” on Kim’s Convenience).
The original short series was funded by the CBC’s Creative Relief Fund, which the broadcaster established last April in response to the Covid-19 pandemic to help support the recovery and resurgence of Canada’s artistic and creative communities.
The series aims to turn mental health struggles into art by addressing the issues of isolation/loneliness and mental health and show viewers, who might be struggling during the pandemic, that they aren’t alone, adds the CBC release.
“The one-person format of the series (Jo is the only character that is shown) and how being alone in an empty house is slowly consuming this character are central metaphors to visually represent the crippling effects that isolation is having on all of us, one year into this pandemic,” says the release.
