FilmRise expands Samsung TV Plus offering with new FAST/AVOD channels in Canada and U.S.

NEW YORK – Streaming network FilmRise, based in New York City, announced last week it is expanding its content offering on Samsung TV Plus to include additional free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) and video-on-demand (AVOD) channels in Canada and the United States.

The deal includes more than 600 hours of new programming, including 19 TV series and more than 120 movies, according to a press release. This brings the total content from FilmRise to 3,134 hours on Samsung TV Plus, the release adds.

Some of the new content included in the programming expansion include all eight seasons of reality series Cheaters, seasons 1-6 of Lorne Michaels’s digital creator comedy sketch series Above Average, and seasons 1-4 of Women Behind Bars, an intimate and in-depth look at the life of women incarcerated in an American jail.

In addition to operating the FilmRise streaming network, FilmRise is a film and television studio and a global distributor of content, offering more than 50,000 licensed and originally produced scripted and unscripted TV episodes across all genres and award-winning, critically acclaimed feature films and documentaries.

“We were one of the first studios to partner with Samsung TV Plus and we are delighted to build upon our successful partnership by continuing to usher in an even larger array of fresh and highly engaging free content on FAST and AVOD for their users to indulge in,” said Melissa Wohl, senior vice-president and head of content sales for FilmRise, in the release.

Some of the Samsung TV Plus channels and titles featuring FilmRise programming include HeartlandHighway to Heaven21 Jump Street, and Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares.
