TORONTO – Rogers has officially launched Fido’s first ever home Internet offering in parts of Ontario, as Cartt.ca reported early Thursday.
With pricing of $50 per month for 300 GB or unlimited for $65 per month, the service is both direct and strong new competition for the likes of independent ISPs VMedia, Beanfield and Teksavvy, who also serve urbanites with cheap high speed Internet. That pricing is only available to existing Fido Mobile postpaid customers. Non-Fido customers, or non-eligible Fido customers, can sign on for 300 GB for $70 per month or unlimited for $85 per month.
All plans include download speeds up to 30 Mbps and upload speeds up to 5 Mbps, the Wi-Fi modem rental and 24/7 support. There are no term contracts, cancellation or activation fees, and users may upgrade to unlimited usage at any time, reads the company’s news release.
“Our Fido customers asked us for quality home Internet at a great price, so we’re making it happen,” said Rogers’ EVP wireless services Raj Doshi, in the release. “We’re offering our customers the simplest, hassle-free home Internet available, with all-in pricing, no term contracts or cancellation fees, and the freedom to set it up yourself using your mobile phone so there’s no waiting around. Let’s just say, it’s your Internet dream come true.”
