Fido contest extends supporting paw to St. John therapy dogs program

TORONTO – In an effort to promote its after-hours wireless plan, Fido has kicked off a national contest that will benefit the St. John Ambulance therapy dog program.

The Rogers-owned discount wireless provider will be visiting 15 Canadian cities – including Toronto, Vancouver, Ottawa, and Montreal, after 5 pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights in March and April as part of the ‘Good Deeds After Work’ contest (check its Facebook page for other locations).

Participants in Toronto, Montreal or Vancouver can enter the contest by sending the word ‘Fido’ in a SMS message to the advertised phone number or by finding a Fido team member within one of the cities for a chance to win prizes like LG Optimus 2X smart phones and gift certificates for local restaurants.  Fido’s Unlimited After Work plan offers unlimited local calls after 5 pm on weekdays, unlimited local calls on weekends, and text messages anytime, on top of 150 weekday minutes.

For every entry in the contest, Fido will donate one dollar in support of the St. John Ambulance therapy dog program to a maximum total of $50,000.  The program enables well behaved canine ambassadors and their handlers visit to people in hospitals, special needs programs, or in long-term care facilities.
