Fan vids to air on Much

TORONTO – MuchMusic is asking its viewers to produce their own Canadian content.

The music station wants fans of Canadian pop rockers Hedley to submit their own versions of the band’s new video, "Street Fight," to muchmusic.com’s Show Me Yours. Once uploaded, the band will determine their favourites, with the best creations broadcast across the country on December 4th on MuchMusic’s daily fan-and-celebrity showcase, MuchOnDemand.

And, the winner will see their footage cut into the official Universal video – the resulting fan/artist hybrid will then be viewable as a MuchExclusive on muchmusic.com.

"We’ve always brought artists and audiences together at MuchMusic," said David Kines, vice-president music and youth services, CHUM Television, in the press release. "Now, fans can show their stuff directly to both the artists and to the rest of the country."

"Hedley are very close to their fan base and Show Me Yours will bring them even closer," added Tony Szambor, director, electronic media, Universal Music Canada. "MuchMusic has played a very important role in the success of Hedley and we’re excited to see the content their viewers provide."

Viewers who want to take a crack at "Street Fight" need to first download the 60-second song clip free from shop.muchmusic.com. Fans can then let their imaginations go wild. All submissions will be viewable in near real time, at muchmusic.com.

The Show Me Yours section of the web site makes fans part of the show by allowing them to upload videos and photos from their mobile phone, desktop, or straight from their webcam to muchmusic.com, with the best clips airing on TV.
